Arrested in the 1965 Watts riots, Richard Kelly (Cedric Sanders) must serve probation at an all-white seminary. Although encouraged to break racial boundaries by its president Alan Beckett (William Devane), the school wants black followers not leaders. Even former missionary, Kate Allison (Lauren Holly), initially rejects Richard. A prison sentence looming, Richard meets Samuel Benton (Louis Gossett, Jr.) -- “the gardener in the basement.” As Samuel guides Richard through his many trials, Richard must choose between his dreams and his destiny.
I enjoy movies based on true events; especially when I was alive and remember hearing about them. But this movie still wasn't type of movie to watch. It did have very good acting, raw emotions that you could feel through the screen, and it was very moving. I did enjoy watching this Christian flick on the one hand though because it wasn't the typical low-cost, new-actors feel to it. I feel this movie represented what happened and what went on very well. This movie was and is inspirational and eye opening to those who didn't know about the Watt Riots and about doing what is right even if you know there are people against you or possible consequences.

I recently went and visited BookJunkieMom at Rainy Day Reviews! and I read her post on The Mend Mark. The Mend Mark is a mission to spread the Word and to remind the people who wear the bracelet of His sacrifice for us. The man behind all of this; Hunter Harrison. He had a great idea. To create the bracelet to mirror the scars from the nails that went through Christ's wrists and feet. It brings a new kind of reminder to the subject I think. Harrison's mission behind this is to remind us not only of His life but his death and why he died for us. It is a great mission and I am glad to know about it and would be glad to wear it. A great conversation starter and a great way to open a door of communication to the non believer; to be able to share the great new of Christ! To find out more about this, go to BookJunkieMom's blog! Have a great day all!

My name is Denise, I have been an avid reader for years. Love shopping, reading and talking books. Never thought about putting my thoughts, opinions, ideas and reviews on the web. Though I mainly read health books, self help, christian books, I am open to reading new things.
My daughter has been doing it and loves it and I thought, sounds like fun! So She got this blog started for me. I am here to review books, talk books, take part in book memes, and everything else bookish!
So please stop by, I would love to meet you and talk books and tea with you!
